House with painting studio is located in Bielsko-Biała, in the vicinity of mountainous terrain. The character of the surroundings, as well as the investor’s emotional connection to the plot and its existing trees, became the starting point for a concept in which the building acts as a frame for the landscape.
To minimize interference of the building with the plot, the house was positioned at the minimum permitted distance from the site boundary. As a result, the building’s footprint follows directly from the shape of the plot. The terrace created at the bend of the form, located at the intersection of the garden and the interior, becomes the heart of the project. It concentrates domestic life, gathers views, light, and changing weather conditions, becoming a space for everyday activity and a natural extension of the living area.
The form of the house was shaped so that the elevation opening onto the garden remains single-storey. This approach enhances the horizontal character of the building and helps maintain a close relationship with the surrounding greenery. Additionally, one of the investor’s guidelines was to design the house as a single-storey structure. However, in order to reduce the building footprint, part of the program was located on a mezzanine level. This directly influenced the shape of the roof, which was rotated and carefully formed to cover as much of the terrace as possible while simultaneously lowering the section of the façade with windows facing the garden. In this way, the house becomes a frame for the surrounding landscape, a structure subordinate to its context, reinforcing the experience of living close to nature.

Dom z pracownią malarską zlokalizowany jest w Bielsku-Białej, w sąsiedztwie terenów górskich. Charakter otoczenia oraz emocjonalna więź inwestora z działką i istniejącymi drzewami stały się punktem wyjścia dla koncepcji, w której budynek staje się ramą dla krajobrazu.
Aby ograniczyć ingerencję w głąb działki, bryła domu została usytuowana w minimalnej dopuszczalnej odległości od granicy terenu. W rezultacie obrys rzutu budynku wynika bezpośrednio z kształtu działki, a powstały na załamaniu formy taras, zlokalizowany na styku ogrodu i wnętrza, stanowi serce projektu. Koncentruje życie domowe, gromadzi widoki, światło i zmienność pogody, stając się przestrzenią codziennej aktywności oraz naturalnym przedłużeniem części mieszkalnej.
Bryła domu została ukształtowana tak, aby elewacja otwierająca się na ogród była niska i parterowa. Zabieg ten wzmacnia horyzontalny charakter zabudowy oraz pozwala zachować bliską relację z zielenią. Dodatkowo jedną z wytycznych inwestora było zaprojektowanie domu jako parterowego. Aby jednak ograniczyć powierzchnię zabudowy, część funkcji została zlokalizowana na antresoli. Wpłynęło to bezpośrednio na formę dachu, który został odpowiednio obrócony i ukształtowany tak, by przykrywać możliwie największą powierzchnię tarasu, a jednocześnie obniżyć fragment elewacji z oknami skierowanymi na ogród. W ten sposób dom staje się ramą dla otaczającej przyrody, podporządkowaną miejscu strukturą, która wzmacnia doświadczenie życia blisko natury.
